Naiyanoi Ntutu Ng’eno, the widow of former Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Johana Ng’eno, has been appointed to the board of the Information and Communication Technology Authority.
The appointment was made by Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo through a gazetted notice dated April 2.According to the notice, Naiyanoi Ntutu will serve as a board member of the Information and Communication Technology Authority for a period of three years starting from the date of publication.
In her new role, she will take part in guiding the authority’s operations and long-term plans.
The ICT Authority is responsible for supporting Kenya’s digital transformation, including government online services and development of digital infrastructure.
The appointment was welcomed by the board chairperson Lily Ng’ok Kirui, who expressed confidence that the new board member would make a valuable contribution.
She said she was looking forward to working together and believed Naiyanoi would help the board achieve its mandate.Naiyanoi Ntutu came into the national spotlight after the death of her husband, Johana Ng’eno, who died in a helicopter crash on February 28, 2026, together with five other people.
The incident shocked the country, and leaders from across the political divide sent messages of condolence to the family.
After her husband’s death, Naiyanoi briefly expressed interest in running for the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat that fell vacant.
However, she later withdrew from the race after consulting with her family and chose not to pursue elective politics at the time.
Her withdrawal from the by-election marked a shift in her path toward public service through appointments rather than elective office.
Her new position at the ICT Authority now places her in a national role where she will contribute to the development of Kenya’s digital economy and government technology programmes.
Her appointment is expected to strengthen the board as it continues to oversee major digital projects across the country.
