Siaya Governor James Orengo has reportedly revealed that he survived an alleged assassination attempt after attending an impromptu political rally in Migori this morning.
According to the reports, one of his vehicles was allegedly sprayed with live bullets before being set ablaze by unidentified individuals. Fortunately, Orengo escaped the incident unharmed.
The motive behind the alleged attack has not yet been established, as authorities continue with investigations to determine what happened and identify those responsible.
The incident has once again raised concerns about the growing political tensions in Kenya, with fears that political differences could put leaders and ordinary citizens at risk.
Kenya must avoid returning to the dark days of the 2007/08 post-election violence. As the country approaches another election period, Kenyans should embrace peace, respect one another and resolve political differences through dialogue rather than violence.
Our nation’s progress depends on unity, patriotism and peaceful coexistence. Let us remain united and exercise our democratic rights responsibly for the sake of Kenya’s future.
