Tensions in the Middle East have intensified after Iran’s powerful military wing, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), claimed it targeted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office during its latest wave of missile strikes on Monday (March 2).

In a statement released by its Public Relations Department, the IRGC said it used Kheybar Shekan missiles to hit Netanyahu’s office as well as an Israeli air force command headquarters.

The claim marks a dramatic escalation in the already volatile Iran-Israel conflict. However, there has been no independent verification of the alleged strike.

Israeli authorities had not immediately responded to the claims at the time of publication. According to The Times of Israel, there were no reported injuries following the attacks.

The Iranian strike comes in the wake of heightened hostilities after Iran accused Israel and the United States of carrying out a joint operation that killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Tehran has vowed severe retaliation.

Iran also claimed it attacked several Gulf states and shot down a U.S. F-15 fighter jet in Kuwait, though these assertions remain unconfirmed.

As of now, the whereabouts and condition of Netanyahu remain unclear, fueling global concern over the rapidly deteriorating security situation.
