Former top police commander made a remarkable comeback into the public service after bring appointed as commissioner of the National Police Service Commission.

The appointment of Muthoni alongside other commissioners was done by President William Ruto through a circular by the Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei.

Peris Muthoni Kimani retired from the Kenya Police Service in 2022. At the time,she was serving as Western Regional Police Commander.

In the senior rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police, Muthoni was one of the most powerful female cops in the country at the time.

Muthoni now joins the team that will oversee the welfare of the National Police Service as the third police commission since promulgation of the new constitution in 2010.

The appointment saw Dr Amani Yuda Komora rise to chair the commission. He takes over from Eliud Kinuthia whose mandate came to an end with the expiry of the term of the former commission.
