A 35-year-old man named Cleophas Oisso was found dead after having a major disagreement with his wife about dowry payments.
Cleophas and his wife had been happily married for eight years, but their relationship began to deteriorate recently due to new pressures.
The troubles started when Cleophas’s wife began attending a different church. Following advice from her pastor, she started insisting that Cleophas pay her dowry.
The pastor reportedly told her that their marriage was not valid without this payment, which placed a lot of stress on Cleophas.
Venchalivin Silayo, Cleophas’s brother, expressed his sadness over his brother’s death and criticized77 the pastor for his role in exacerbating the couple’s problems.
He urged others to carefully consider the churches they join and the teachings they follow.
“People need to think critically about the advice they receive in places of worship,” he emphasized.
For nearly a decade, Cleophas and his wife had a loving relationship.
However, the pastor’s insistence on dowry payments created a rift between them.
Venchalivin believed that if Cleophas had discussed his worries with their parents, he might still be alive.
“Talking to our parents could have provided the support he needed,” he remarked.
A family friend revealed that Cleophas’s wife had changed churches, where the pastor encouraged her to pressure her husband about the dowry.
She thought that failing to pay the dowry would block blessings in their marriage, which put Cleophas under immense stress.
