In a momentous announcement by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results were unveiled, unveiling a tale of triumph and academic prowess.
Among the standout performers is Kipsaitas Jepkorir, a young prodigy hailing from Greenvale Primary School in Uasin Gishu county.
Jepkorir’s stellar achievement of scoring 414 marks out of a possible 500 has captivated the nation and left many in awe of her intellectual prowess.
Jepkorir, a Kalenjin girl, stood out not only for her remarkable score but also for her impeccable articulation of the Swahili language.
When asked about her dreams, she expressed herself eloquently in Swahili, stating, “Naitwa Kipsaitas Jepkorir na Mungu ameniwezehsa kuzoa alama 414 na si kwa uwezo wangu ni yeye tu. Namshukuru Mungu, wazazi wangu.
Walimu kwa wamekuwa wakiniwezesha, wakinipiga jeki kwa kila kitu ambacho nimefanya na sichukulii hivi hivi. Mimi ningependa kuwa mpasuaji wa akili. Napenda sayansi na hisabati, Napenda sana.”
The release of the results also brought to light the overall performance of KCPE candidates. Out of the candidates, 8,523 scored an impressive 400 to 500 marks.
Education CS Machogu acknowledged a slight drop in this top-tier category compared to the 2022 results. Additionally, 352,782 learners scored between 300 and 399, while 658,278 candidates fell within the 200 to 299 marks range.
Notably, the 2023 KCPE marks the last edition of the examination, and candidates who did not sit for it will have an opportunity to take a special examination in January 2024.
The Form One placement process is set to commence shortly, with the government emphasizing the 100% transition policy to ensure all eligible candidates enroll in secondary education.
