Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has fulfilled a promise he made during Pastor Kimeto’s 50th anniversary celebration by handing over two modern homes to renowned Kalenjin music legend Mzee Andrea Chamdany in Kericho County.

In a statement shared after the handover ceremony, Sudi said the gesture was inspired by his lifelong admiration for Chamdany, whose songs, including the famous “Rirenech Oh Kwandanyo,” played a significant role in shaping the cultural identity of generations of Kalenjin families.

The legislator recalled listening to the musician’s songs as a child while seated around the fireside, noting that he never imagined he would one day be in a position to improve the veteran artist’s living conditions.

Sudi praised Chamdany for using music to preserve community values, tell the stories of the people, and inspire hope in families facing difficult times. He described the musician as a cultural icon whose contributions extended beyond entertainment and helped nurture the soul of the nation.

According to Sudi, honoring veteran artists is a way of recognizing the immense impact they have had on society. He said the new homes were a token of appreciation for Chamdany’s decades-long contribution to music and culture, adding that it was only right for society to give back to those who have dedicated their lives to enriching others through their talent.

The handover was met with praise from residents and supporters, who hailed the move as a meaningful gesture toward preserving and celebrating the legacy of Kenya’s cultural pioneers.
