Wako

Former Attorney General Amos Wako on Monday made a rare public appearance as he joined President William Ruto during his development tour of Busia County.

The former AG joined other leaders including Busia County Governor Dr Paul Otuoma and Kenya’s High Commissioner to Uganda Ababu Namwamba as the Head of State launched various development projects in the border county.

It was a rare public appearance for the former Busia County senator who has maintained a low public profile since leaving office in 2022.

Wako,80, is Kenya’s longest serving Attorney General, having served for a total of 20 years.

He was appointed to the position in 1991 by the then President Daniel Arap Moi and went on to serve until 2011.

After leaving office as Attorney General, he joined politics where he went on to serve for two terms until 2022 when he opted to quietly retire.

Since then, little has been heard from him even as he enjoys his new life in retirement as a private citizen.
