Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula on Monday joined President William Ruto during a development rally in Navakholo, Kakamega County.
Speaking at the event, Savula assured the President that the Western region, which has for years been considered a strong political base of the late opposition leader Raila Odinga, was increasingly shifting its support towards the government.
He urged residents to continue backing the government, saying development projects being rolled out in the region were already beginning to transform local livelihoods.
Savula told locals that they should allow Gachagua to hold a rally in the area.
“Gachagua akikuja hapa muwafukuze.” Savula said.
He urged them to remain focused on supporting development and government programs.
The President began his Western Kenya development tour in Busia County, where he made stopovers in Matayos and Budalangi. During the visits, he launched key road projects aimed at improving connectivity in the region.
According to the government, the projects are expected to boost trade and tourism by opening up the area to more investment and travel opportunities.
During the tour, the President is also expected to review ongoing development projects and engage local leaders and residents on the government’s economic agenda.
