Senator Edwin Sifuna stole the spotlight during George Odur’s farewell ceremony in Siaya with a bold and unexpected opening.
Facing the crowd, he declared, “Mheshimiwa Rais, mimi ndiye Edwin Sifuna. Wewe Junet Mohammed niheshimu hata kama mimi ni mdogo kwako.”
He went on to thank ODM leader Raila Odinga for his unwavering leadership and influence.
Sifuna honoured the late George Odur for his loyalty, noting how he stood firmly in defence of Raila.
“George alijitolea kulinda Baba na hakuwahi kuyumba,” he said.
In a strong message directed at President William Ruto, Sifuna warned about the dangers of surrounding oneself with dishonest allies.
He stated, “Mwiba wa kujidunga hauna dawa, kuna watu kwa Serikali yako ni kukushikisha tu handball.”
Sifuna also called for discipline and loyalty within ODM, warning members against deviating from the party’s core principles. He made it clear that party positions should be respected and upheld.
Though the occasion was meant for mourning, Sifuna’s sharp remarks and commanding tone quickly became the centre of attention, transforming the farewell into a moment of political reflection.
