Gospel DJ Karumba Ngatia, popularly known as DJ Krowbar, has once again melted hearts across Kenya with a deeply emotional tribute to his late wife, Joyce Wanjiru Karumba (also known as Joy).

In recent weeks, amid ongoing mourning, the award-winning deejay took to social media to share a cherished photo of the couple in matching outfits — a snapshot from what would be one of their final anniversary celebrations.

The image, originally posted by Joyce as her last public message before her untimely passing, shows the couple beaming in coordinated kitenge attire, radiating love and joy. DJ Krowbar reposted and reflected on the moment in his tributes, pairing it with heartfelt captions that have left fans in tears.

The caption from that anniversary post, which has now become a symbol of their enduring bond, reads:

“This is the last event (Akili Space) I went to with my wife (07/06/2025), one week before she was admitted for her transplant… 😭😭😭😭😭. Looking back at this picture, I feel good tulimachisha… Some photos/videos I see, I cry, some I smile… This one made me happy… Thank God we went together.” Posted on Facebook

In his own recent shares, including a combined video of intimate memories posted on Instagram around February 23, 2026, DJ Krowbar added:

“This is hard… This is really hard… I am going to miss this support system.”

Background on the Loss and Current Developments

Joyce Wanjiru Karumba passed away on January 26, 2026, after a prolonged battle with kidney complications. She had undergone a transplant in 2025 (donated by her sister, who later shared a moving tribute about the 215 days the kidney sustained her).

Despite her strength and faith, she was readmitted to hospital and succumbed to the illness. She was laid to rest on February 5, 2026, in Nyeri, in an emotional ceremony where DJ Krowbar broke down while bidding her farewell.

The couple, who had been together for 16 years and shared three children — Toria, Riri, and Imani — were known for their public displays of affection, including a tradition of wearing matching outfits for anniversaries and special occasions.
