Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), working in collaboration with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), have exposed a bribery scandal involving a policewoman attached to Kahawa Police Station.
The officer, identified as Christine Nyokabi, was arrested during a sting operation after she allegedly demanded KSh 50,000 from a motorist in order to drop charges against him.According to investigators, the motorist reported the matter, prompting officials to set up a trap.
Marked currency notes were handed to the driver, who delivered them to Nyokabi. Detectives then moved in and caught her in possession of the money.
She was immediately placed under arrest and taken into custody.
Authorities confirmed that she will be arraigned in court to face corruption-related charges.
The incident has stirred public debate, with many questioning the integrity of law enforcement officers. It comes at a time when authorities are stepping up efforts to curb corruption within the police service.
In recent weeks, several officers across the country have been arrested in similar operations targeting those who use their positions to exploit citizens.
The EACC and DCI have assured Kenyans that the fight against corruption remains a top priority.
Officials said all those found engaging in unethical practices will face justice without exception.
The arrest is part of the government’s renewed push to restore public trust in institutions meant to safeguard law and order.
