Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru shared a late-night message following her attendance at the joint United Democratic Alliance-Orange Democratic Movement parliamentary group meeting held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre. In her post, she highlighted the collaborative atmosphere and outlined expectations moving forward.
Waiguru described attending the session alongside President William Ruto as UDA party leader, and Dr. Oburu Odinga representing ODM, together with other leaders.
The gathering focused on reviewing the 10-point agenda and the National Dialogue Committee report, originally stemming from bipartisan talks to address governance, electoral reforms, and national unity issues.
She emphasized a shared commitment to transcending political divisions for Kenya’s progress. The meeting reinforced resolve to implement key recommendations from the NADCO framework, which includes legislative measures already advanced in parliament and others under discussion.
Participants agreed on mechanisms like establishing a mediation committee to accelerate pending items, aiming to strengthen democracy, inclusivity, and development.
Waiguru’s message conveyed optimism about cross-party cooperation, signaling that the broad-based approach would continue driving reforms ahead of future elections.
She tagged fellow attendees, including Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and Meru Governor Muthomi Njuki, underscoring regional representation in the dialogue.
The post comes amid ongoing efforts to fulfill the cooperation agreement between the two parties, with recent updates indicating progress on several fronts.
Observers see such public affirmations as steps toward sustained political stability and inclusive governance. Waiguru’s remarks suggest expectations of tangible outcomes from the reviewed agenda, fostering unity and advancing national priorities in the coming period.
