The Kenya Meteorological Department has released its seven-day weather forecast, warning residents in several parts of the country to expect rainfall between Tuesday, September 15 and Monday, September 21.
According to the forecast, rainfall is expected in parts of 46 counties, including Bungoma, Busia, Homa Bay, Nairobi, Kakamega, Kisumu, Kisii, Siaya, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu and Trans Nzoia.
The department has also forecast daytime temperatures exceeding 30°C in parts of Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Garissa, Wajir, Isiolo, Marsabit and Turkana.
At night, temperatures could drop below 10°C in some areas of Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nakuru, Narok, Taita Taveta and Kajiado counties.
Along the Coast, morning showers are expected in several areas of Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Tana River and Lamu.
Parts of Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Embu, Nyeri, Tharaka-Nithi, Meru, Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Marsabit, Wajir and Mandera may also experience morning rainfall.
Meanwhile, sunny intervals are expected during the morning in many western, Rift Valley and eastern counties.
The weather is expected to change in the afternoon, with showers and thunderstorms forecast in several parts of Bungoma, Busia, Homa Bay, Kakamega, Kisumu, Kisii, Siaya, Nandi, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu and neighbouring counties.
Afternoon showers are also likely in Nairobi, Kiambu, Embu, Meru, Mombasa, Kilifi, Nyeri, Murang’a, Kirinyaga and other central and coastal areas.
Northern counties, including Isiolo, Mandera, Marsabit, Samburu, Turkana and Wajir, are expected to experience mainly sunny conditions during the afternoon.
The department has further warned that some counties could receive night showers, while partly cloudy conditions are expected in other areas.
Residents, farmers and motorists have been advised to remain alert to changing weather conditions throughout the forecast period.
