Tanzanian activist, Mange Kimambi, has stated that the planned fresh nationwide protests on December 9 are still in course and will take place.

Kimambi says the protests will start at 7am, stating that Tanzanians from across the country will take over the streets.

She has, however, maintained that they will be peaceful protests and not violent clashes as the Tanzanian police has been claiming.

Kimambi has expressed confidence that this is the only solution to the ills allegedly being done by the government against it’s citizens.

“On December 9th, at 7am, all Tanzanians will take to the streets to demand justice peacefully,” she says in a post on X.

“The eyes of the world will be on Tanzania on Dec 9th. We will win. God is on our side. There is no turning back,” she further states.

Kimambi, despite living in America, has been accused by the Tanzanian government of organising the earlier protests on October 29, which resulted in deaths, injuries and destruction of property.

Consequently, the government has launched money laundering and fraud charges against her, in a bid to have her brought back to Tanzania for prosecution.

Her statement also follows the Tanzanian Police Force’s claim that the protest organisers have acquired weapons and plan on bringing the country’s operations to a halt.

Spokesman David Misime claimed that they also plan on cutting off communication, closing off the country’s borders and disrupting operations at the Dar es Salaam Port, and on Friday officially banned the planned demos.
