Many people keep journals, voice notes, or screenshots just in case. But what happens when a moment meant to stay private becomes public?

Karangu Wa Muraya is now facing that reality. After a private audio of him and Tata Essy discussing personal matters about Triza’s undergarments was leaked, fans questioned why such a sensitive conversation was recorded in the first place.

But his answer reveals a side of life many quietly deal with—feeling unsafe even in familiar spaces. Can fear of misunderstanding push someone to record their truth?

In a post on Karangu’s Facebook page, he finally opened up. He said that at the time the conversation was recorded, he had been dealing with emotional tension at home.

His youngest daughter was still very young, and issues had come up involving children from outside his marriage. He feared that things might take a wrong turn and that he could be blamed or misunderstood later.

Karangu said he was advised by someone close to him to record conversations, not to harm anyone, but to keep a record in case something ever went wrong.

He admitted that he never expected those recordings to reach the public. When he found out they had leaked, he was deeply hurt—not just by the exposure, but by the fact that something so personal was used to judge him.

While the topic of the audio was sensitive, his decision to record came from a place of fear and the need for emotional safety.

Many people might not agree with that choice, but it reflects a common struggle trying to guard ourselves in uncertain times.
