The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested a key suspect in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination leakages that have been circulating on social. Operating under a fake identity as Dorothy Jerop Kiprono, Kemboi used different social media platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram to run a huge network supplying exam materials.

He had collected a following of over 78,000 users on Telegram and over 8,500 on WhatsApp, with many Kenyans, particularly students and parents sending him money to get the leakage of examination content material. During the operation, DCI officials found Kemboi’s cellphone, SIM playing cards, several IDs registered under different names, and other items he allegedly used to carry out his criminal enterprise.

Screenshots from his chats with clients show exchanges where he coordinated payments and dispensed exam content material, exposing the extent of his operations. Below are some of the screenshots of his chats with his clients.

His fraudulent activities have grown to be a developing problem for the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) authorities who have been working tirelessly to protect the integrity of the ongoing national exams.

Kemboi, who is a university graduate and salesperson, now faces fraud charges and illegal possession of examination materials. He is currently in custody at Nakuru Central Police Station, with a court appearance expected soon as police continue with their efforts to put to an end similar examination malpractices.
