President William Ruto is expected to encounter challenging times ahead, according to a prominent Kenyan figure who foresees a possible uprising against his administration.
The remarks were made by former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga, who has also expressed dissatisfaction with how the president is running the country and handling government affairs.
Mutunga argues that Ruto has allegedly reverted to policies associated with former President Daniel Moi, suggesting that this could lead Kenyans to eventually reject his leadership and trigger a political revolt.
He further claims that the government has not fully implemented the 2010 Constitution, pointing to issues such as foreign influence, exploitation, repression, and threats to national sovereignty. He predicts that after such a revolution, a new group of leaders will emerge to guide the country in a more ethical direction.
In a statement published in The Star, Mutunga wrote that he envisions both an alternative political leadership and an impending uprising in Kenya, describing it as his personal prediction.
He also argued that periods of foreign dominance, oppression, and undermining of sovereignty have persisted over time, claiming that Kenya still operates under systems shaped by external influence and local elites who serve foreign interests.
He suggested that these leaders may be working to sustain long-standing political dominance, but insisted that change is inevitable and that a new leadership will eventually take over through a national democratic revolution led by anti-imperialist political forces.
Mutunga’s remarks come shortly after similar predictions were made by former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando.
