The usually serene town of Kapsabet transformed into a battleground on Tuesday as thousands of Nandi County residents took to the streets, demanding the immediate impeachment of Governor Stephen Sang.

The protests, which began as small gatherings on the outskirts of town, rapidly snowballed into one of the largest demonstrations the county has ever witnessed. Chanting in unison, residents roared, “UDA kwisha! Governor Sang must go!” a rallying cry that echoed from every corner of Kapsabet, reverberating across the hills of Nandi County.

Banners and placards painted with bold declarations of discontent waved high in the air as the crowd surged through the streets, blocking roads and bringing business to a grinding halt.

Shops closed, windows were shuttered, and local businesses held their breath as the tide of anger flooded the town center. Motorbikes revved, horns blared, and voices united in what residents are calling, the uprising of a lifetime.

The sheer scale of the demonstration was staggering. Witnesses estimated that over 10,000 people had gathered, flooding the main streets, parks, and intersections of Kapsabet.

Young and old, farmers and professionals, stood shoulder-to-shoulder, waving the green and yellow flags of UDA, now seen as symbols of protest rather than support.

“We voted for change, but we’ve been given empty promises,” shouted one protester, his voice almost drowned by the roar of agreement from the crowd.

Governor Sang, once a popular figure within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), is now facing a storm of accusations, ranging from alleged mismanagement of county funds to failures in fulfilling his electoral promises.

Calls for Sang’s impeachment have reached fever pitch, with leaders from neighboring counties and local politicians beginning to take sides.

Police were deployed to maintain order, but with the streets jam-packed with determined demonstrators, their presence did little to quell the unrest.

As night fell, the chants only grew louder, an unrelenting reminder of the people’s demand: Nandi’s residents want change, and they want it now.
