Senior Economic Advisor Moses Kuria has urged politicians from his Mt Kenya backyard to work together with other communities for the region’s continued representation in government. Speaking at a funeral in Kirinyaga County, the vocal leader warned that the region risks political isolation if its leaders adopt divisive politics.

Kuria emphasized the importance of cooperation especially in Parliament where Mt Kenya MPs could be outnumbered if they pursue their own strategy. He also cautioned against selfish leadership, urging regional leaders to focus on strategies that benefit the whole Mt Kenya region.

“We are drivers of buses which have some people hanging,” Moses Kuria said. He urged his fellow Mt Kenya leaders to lead with care and avoid repeating past mistakes. He also encouraged them to prioritize collective goals over personal interests.

His comments come at a time when Mt Kenya is divided over the potential impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. As Kenyans.co.ke reports, some leaders have threatened to leave the Kenya Kwanza coalition if Gachagua is removed, claiming the impeachment push is unfair.

Gachagua has been accused of fostering ethnic politics which some people argue is compromising national unity. Despite the pressure, Gachagua has declared he will fight the charges and has no intention of resigning.

The DP believes the impeachment attempt is politically motivated and he has prepared to defend himself before the Senate. Kuria’s warning to his Mt Kenya backyard emphasizes the importance of leaders choosing unity over division for the sake of the region’s future in national politics.
