Njoroge wa Githinji

Njoroge wa Githinji, a well-known news anchor at Inooro TV, shared his difficult journey after losing his job at K24 while his wife was pregnant. He was fired from K24 in 2013 after working there for eight months. Njoroge had a feeling he would be let go, and when it happened, he felt lost and uncertain about his future. He spent time at a café in Ngara, contemplating how to support his family and find a new job.

His wife encouraged him to use the opportunity to further his education. He had previously completed a Diploma in Public Relations and decided to enroll in a degree program in journalism at Kenya Methodist University.

On the day his wife gave birth, Njoroge received a call from Nation Media Group. They invited him for an interview for a sports show called “Mwanaspoti” at QTV. He got the job and worked as a co-host with Joshua Makori. However, his contract ended in December of that year.

While at Ebru TV for a short time, Njoroge learned that Royal Media Services was starting a new vernacular station called Inooro TV. A friend urged him to apply, and he did. Initially, he wanted to be the sports editor but ended up as a TV host for a new show called “Inooro Ruciini.”

Although hesitant about focusing on political content rather than sports, he accepted the role. He worked with Kamau Kang’ethe, a friend from Kameme FM. They celebrated six successful years since the show began. Njoroge’s story highlights resilience and the importance of hope during challenging times.
