National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has leveled serious accusations against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, claiming that Gachagua referred to Baringo County Woman Representative Florence Jeremiah as a “prostitute.” According to Ichung’wah, the insult was hurled at the MP simply because she chose to align herself with Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro instead of following the Deputy President’s political direction..
The dispute allegedly stemmed from Florence Jeremiah’s decision to back Ndindi Nyoro, whom many see as a potential running mate for President William Ruto in the 2027 elections. Ichung’wah stated that Gachagua took offense to this, leading him to launch a personal attack against the Baringo MP. The Majority Leader expressed outrage over the Deputy President’s actions, noting that such behavior has angered many members of parliament and contributed to the growing revolt against Gachagua’s leadership within the Mount Kenya region.
“Why would you insult the gracious lady who represents the people of Baringo and call her a prostitute, just because she has refused to sing your tune and has chosen to associate with people you do not like? Florence Jematiah was insulted for working with Ndindi Nyoro,” said Ichung’wah during a morning show, highlighting the Deputy President’s perceived intolerance of differing political views.
Ichung’wah’s remarks reflect a deepening political rift within Mount Kenya, as more leaders express dissatisfaction with Gachagua’s approach to leadership. Many MPs are now distancing themselves from the Deputy President, with some viewing his actions as divisive and damaging to the region’s unity. The incident with Florence Jematiah appears to have further escalated tensions, as MPs question Gachagua’s ability to lead without resorting to personal attacks
