A day after embattled Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza survived her second Impeachment since assuming office last year, a new detail has emerged alleging how senators were bribed to send the governor home.
As relayed by a report covered on Friday’s people’s daily publication, a senator who didn’t want to be named disclosed that a section of senators who were willing to vote for Kawira Mwangaza’s Impeachment were offered sh 2m.
According to the report, the senators took the money but instead saved the governor who had pleaded with the house to save her.
Also, the same report indicates that Tigania member of parliament Hon Mpuru Aburi’s abusive remarks towards Kawira Mwangaza affected senator’s voting.
It’s claimed that majority of Senators were turned off by Mpuru Aburi’s remarks and therefore decided to vote against the Kawira Mwangaza’s Impeachment motion that was tabled by 59 Meru ward representatives.
It should be noted that the senate saved Kawira Mwangaza from all the seven charges that were raised against her including misappropriation of County resources, illegal appointments and bullying her deputy Mutuma.
Apparently, bribing has been a major factor affecting integrity in the government and therefore this revelation should be probed to find individuals who are fostering corruption in the country.
