Afande Denno

Nairobi-based content creator and former police officer Afande Denno is recovering after what began as a lighthearted social media livestream reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation.

According to accounts shared online and statements attributed to Denno, the TikTok personality had visited a residential home where he was preparing a meal for a group of young mothers. The session, which was being broadcast live to his followers, initially appeared casual and interactive, with viewers watching him cook and engage with those present.

However, the situation allegedly took an unexpected turn when two women arrived at the location and an argument broke out inside the house. The livestream, which continued running during the incident, captured moments of confusion and rising tension as voices were raised and the atmosphere became increasingly hostile.

Denno later claimed that the confrontation escalated into physical assault, during which he was injured. He also reported that several personal belongings went missing in the aftermath, including audio equipment, a mobile phone, identification documents, and a bag containing accessories. The total value of the missing items is estimated to be in the tens of thousands of shillings.

Another individual identified by witnesses as “Kulo” is alleged to have been involved in the altercation, though details remain unclear as investigations continue. Police have reportedly taken up the matter, with Denno recording a statement and seeking medical attention for his injuries.

The incident has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with users divided between concern for Denno’s safety and questions about the circumstances leading up to the confrontation. Many have also raised broader concerns about the risks of livestreaming in uncontrolled environments, where real-time broadcasting can capture unfolding conflicts without intervention.

As authorities work to establish what exactly transpired, the case highlights the growing intersection between online content creation and real-world safety challenges, especially for creators who document unscripted moments in public or semi-private spaces.
