Kenyan actress Sandra Dacha has responded to critics who claim she now looks older after losing weight.
In a social media post on Friday, November 6, 2026, Dacha said some people had told her she looked younger when she was bigger and now looks old after losing weight.
“Apparently, I looked younger when I was bigger and now I look old after losing weight” she wrote.
“So basically, I was supposed to lose weight but retain the face and body of my former self? Aki, you people are difficult!!!”
She ended the post with a Kiswahili punchline that has since gone viral: “Mimi nilipunguza KILO, si umri.” Translated into English, it means: “I reduced my weight, not my age.”
Dacha, best known for playing Silprosa in the Kenyan television comedy series _Auntie Boss_, shared the post alongside throwback images from before her weight loss.
Her response came days after she sparked concern among fans by sharing a video on November 1 showing herself being prepared for surgery at Halcyon Health Care Centre. She did not disclose the nature of the procedure, leaving followers anxious.
By November 6, she had returned to Instagram Stories, posting videos of herself eating, in a reassuring sign that she was recovering.
On November 4, she had also shared a throwback video of herself dancing alongside her partner, Akuku Danger, before her weight loss, captioning it: “I will miss this body of mine.”
Dacha has been open about her weight-loss journey. She has said her weight rose from her usual 123kg to 152kg during the COVID-19 period.
In November 2025, she revealed she had dropped from 152kg to 100kg within one year, a loss of 52kg. She has previously disclosed that she started using Ozempic injections in August 2024.
She has linked the decision to lose weight to a health scare in October 2023, when she was hospitalised and diagnosed with pneumonia.
