DK Kwenye

Kenyan gospel musician DK Kwenye Beat has parted ways with his signature dreadlocks after keeping the hairstyle for 15 years, describing the decision as a symbol of a new chapter in his life and ministry.

The singer announced the transformation in a social media post, explaining that the decision was not simply about changing his appearance but represented a deeper spiritual transition.

DK said he was laying down 15 years of dreadlocks as a sign that a chapter of his journey had served its purpose.

“Today, I lay down 15 years of dreadlocks, not as a loss, but as a sign of divine transition. What was once part of my journey has served its purpose,” he stated.

The musician added that he was embracing a new season marked by fresh grace, vision and what he described as fresh apostolic direction.

He compared his transition to the biblical story of Abraham, who left his familiar surroundings and stepped out in faith towards God’s promise.

“Like Abraham leaving the familiar and stepping into God’s promise, I embrace this new beginning with faith and obedience,” he added.

DK further referenced the Bible verse 2 Corinthians 5:17, which speaks about becoming a new creation, saying the old had passed and all things were becoming new.

He emphasised that the decision carried a deeper meaning beyond his new look, describing it as a new mantle, assignment and level in his spiritual journey.

“This is not just a new look, it’s a new mantle, a new assignment, and a new level. The journey continues. The purpose remains. The anointing increases,” he said.

He accompanied the announcement with the phrase “New Season. New Grace. New Assignment,” using the hashtags #KingdomPurpose, #AllThingsNew, #PropheticSeason and #WalkingByFaith.

The transformation marks a notable change for the gospel musician, whose dreadlocks had been part of his recognisable appearance for 15 years.
