Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has stepped in to support Kenyan influencer Rahma, popularly known as Nihan, following allegations that her boyfriend, forex trader Trevor Gichuru, alias Flossin, violently assaulted her during a domestic dispute.
Sonko publicly offered to provide Nihan and her family with free legal representation, promising to involve relevant investigative and judicial authorities to ensure the matter receives attention.
The former governor condemned the alleged incident, describing it as a heartbreaking situation that should not be ignored.
In his social media statement, Sonko directly addressed Flossin, questioning how he could allegedly subject someone close to him to such violence.
“Trevor, kwani huna huruma? Huyu ni mtoto wa wenyewe! Imagine the pain her family is going through!” Sonko wrote.
He also urged couples experiencing difficulties in their relationships to separate peacefully rather than resort to violence.
“Kama mapenzi hayaendi, wachaneni kwa amani!” he advised.
Sonko further criticised the suggestion that financial status could give anyone the right to mistreat another person, declaring that money was not a licence to take someone’s life.
Nihan Shares Hospital Updates After Alleged Assault
The allegations emerged after Nihan shared details of her disturbing experience with her followers on social media.
According to her account, Flossin allegedly attacked her with a metal rod, repeatedly striking her on the head during a domestic disagreement.
She claimed that the assault left her with serious injuries and that she eventually managed to escape from their residence.
Online personality Mali ya Kibe was reportedly among the people who came to her assistance, allegedly helping her leave the scene and access medical attention.
Nihan later appeared in a TikTok livestream while receiving treatment in hospital, giving her followers an update on her condition.
During the broadcast, she claimed to have suffered a serious head wound, a skull injury and a fractured hand.
She also alleged that Flossin had been intoxicated around the time of the incident. These claims have not been independently established.
Nihan Addresses Mercedes-Benz Gift
The influencer also addressed the Mercedes-Benz that Flossin had previously presented to her publicly.
Nihan alleged that the gift was largely intended to create publicity and claimed that the vehicle had never been legally registered in her name.
Her remarks raised further questions about the relationship and the circumstances surrounding the highly publicised gift.
Reports Emerge About Flossin’s Arrest
Meanwhile, reports circulating on social media suggested that Flossin had visited a police station intending to lodge a counter-complaint against Nihan.
However, the reports indicated that he was subsequently arrested following the allegations made against him.
The circumstances surrounding the reported arrest, including whether he had formally been charged, remained unclear at the time of publication.
