Kenyan musician and content creator Stivo Simple Boy has given his fans a look at a large piece of farmland he says he helped acquire for his mother, after the family lost their former home in a painful land dispute.
In a video he shared on TikTok, which was later picked up by Tuko, the artist walks across the farm and shows off the green crops growing on the land. The video quickly caught the attention of Kenyans online, many of whom praised him for looking after his family.
According to the report, the family lost their former home in a land dispute, a setback that left them without the place they had known for years. Stivo, whose real name is Stephen Otieno Adera, said the new farm is his way of making sure his mother has a place she can call her own.
In the same video, the star also made an appeal for help. He asked well-wishers to support him as he works to develop the land and make it useful for his family.
Stivo comes from Oyugis in Homa Bay County, where he was born on January 28, 1990, as the seventh child in a family of eight. His family later moved to Kibera in Nairobi to look for better opportunities. He dropped out of school after class eight because the family could not afford fees, and he took casual jobs, including construction work, before his music career took off.
He became famous after his song Vijana Tuache Mihadarati gained popularity, and he has since worked with several brands. He has also been named an ambassador by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA).
In an earlier interview, Stivo said he chose to build his mother a house and dig a well for her instead of spending money on luxury items. He explained that meeting his family’s basic needs came before buying expensive things.
The latest video seems to show the same priorities. Fans in the comment sections have encouraged him to keep supporting his mother, while others have promised to stand with him as he develops the farm.
