Gachagua Rigathi

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has compared himself to Kenya’s third President, the late Mwai Kibaki, saying Kenyans will eventually appreciate his leadership.

Speaking during a recent engagement with supporters, Gachagua described himself as the “second Mwai Kibaki,” expressing confidence that Kenyans would come to love and appreciate him.

“I am the second Mwai Kibaki. You will come to love and appreciate me,” Gachagua said. The remarks highlight Gachagua’s confidence as he positions himself for a major political role ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Kibaki, who served as Kenya’s president from 2002 to 2013, is widely remembered for his focus on economic growth, infrastructure development and public-sector reforms.

Gachagua has increasingly presented himself as an alternative leadership option as political realignments intensify ahead of the next election. His comparison to Kibaki is likely to attract attention as he seeks to build support across different regions and political groups.
