Beautiful photos have emerged of a Machakos woman who was brutally murdered after reportedly ending her relationship with her boyfriend and moving on with another man, as detectives continue investigating the shocking killing.
The victim, identified as 23-year-old Gaudencia Amwayi, was found dead inside her rented bedsitter at Sucos Estate in Isinya, Kajiado County.
Neighbours and relatives said she had been living alone in the house before her death.
The tragic discovery was made by her current boyfriend after she failed to answer repeated phone calls.
Concerned about her safety, he went to her house and found her lying unresponsive inside the room before alerting relatives and police.
Gaudencia’s sister, Melab Ayako, arrived at the residence shortly after receiving the distressing news.
She found the house locked and insisted that it be opened.
After seeing her sister’s body, she believed the circumstances pointed to murder rather than suicide.
Her observations strengthened the family’s suspicion that Gaudencia had been deliberately killed.
Police officers from Isinya Police Station launched investigations and began tracing the victim’s final movements while examining her past relationships.
Relatives informed investigators that suspicion had fallen on Gaudencia’s former boyfriend, whom she had reportedly separated from after beginning a new relationship.
A postmortem examination conducted by Dr Joseph Ndegwa at Kitengela Sub County Hospital Mortuary confirmed that the young woman died from manual strangulation.
The examination also established that there were no visible defensive injuries on her body, suggesting she may not have physically resisted her attacker before she died.
Following the medical findings, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations launched a search for the prime suspect.
Their investigations led them to Malaa in Machakos County, where the 30-year-old former boyfriend was arrested.
The suspect is currently being held at Isinya Police Station as detectives continue questioning him to establish the full circumstances surrounding Gaudencia’s death.
Investigators are expected to present him in court as enquiries into the suspected love triangle killing continue.
