A woman is fighting for her life after falling from the sixth floor of an apartment building in Nairobi’s Thome Estate, in an incident that has sparked widespread public concern and prompted a police investigation.
The victim, identified as 25-year-old Nicole Omondi, is receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital, where she is reported to have sustained multiple fractures and is awaiting surgery.
According to relatives, the incident happened on Saturday morning following an alleged domestic dispute inside the apartment. Family members claim Nicole managed to call her father during the confrontation, telling him she was being assaulted before the call unexpectedly ended.
The family further alleges that when Nicole’s father called back, the phone was answered by Agnes Muthigani Ndanu, the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Kasarani Police Station. They claim she told him she was “disciplining” Nicole before disconnecting the call. These allegations have not been independently verified.
Moments later, Nicole reportedly fell from the balcony. Residents and a Good Samaritan rushed to assist her before she was taken to hospital for emergency treatment.
Relatives also allege that Agnes later visited the hospital but left after encountering members of Nicole’s family. They have further expressed concern over the handling of the matter, claiming they faced difficulties while attempting to report the incident.
Authorities have since confirmed that investigations are underway to establish exactly what happened. Detectives are expected to interview witnesses, review the scene, and gather forensic evidence before determining whether criminal charges will be filed.
The case has generated intense discussion online, with many Kenyans calling for a thorough and transparent investigation, especially given the suspect’s senior position within the police service.
As Nicole continues to receive treatment, her family says their priority is her recovery while urging investigators to ensure the truth is established and justice is served based on the findings of the investigation.
