A young Kenyan investor has teamed up with foreign partners to launch Silva Gigiri, a major luxury residential hotel development in Nairobi’s diplomatic and high end Gigiri neighborhood. The project, which carries an estimated price tag of KSh 2 billion, was unveiled on 27 May 2026 and is expected to add a new premium housing and hospitality option in one of the city’s most exclusive areas.
According to the project details, Silva Gigiri will feature 185 rooms, high end dining outlets, and a spa, with its location chosen strategically inside Gigiri’s designated accommodation and hospitality zone, less than 200 metres from Village Market. The developers say the plan is meant to respond to the growing demand for quality accommodation in Nairobi, especially as international activity in the area continues to expand.
The Kenyan investor behind the project, Mohamed Bishar, said the development was intentionally designed to fit into the surrounding environment rather than overwhelm it. He described the site as a green area near a forest and river, and said the team wanted the project to coexist with nature while still delivering a luxury experience. Bishar also linked the project’s timing to expected growth in the area, including increased presence from international organizations.
The project is being advanced through a partnership with an experienced international hospitality operator. Bishar said the development works with 12 hotel brands that have been in the industry since 1969, and that the partnership will help determine the best brand for management and franchising. Hospitality advisor Havar Bauk is also involved in positioning the project as an ultra luxury destination, and he said Bahrain based Gulf Hotels Group has been brought in as the official operator, marking the company’s first entry into Kenya.
Bauk also said the project is in final talks with Eleina Spa, an international luxury spa operator, and will introduce unique food experiences, including a tree restaurant and a fine dining penthouse restaurant on the 12th floor with views over Karura Forest. He said the goal is to raise hospitality standards in Africa and attract both local and international guests and investors. The development is also pursuing Gold-level LEED certification, underscoring its sustainability ambitions.
The unveiling came at a time when Nairobi’s luxury property market is showing strength. The article says high-quality homes in areas such as Gigiri, Karen, Runda, and Muthaiga have continued to post competitive rental yields, while property prices in the city rose in the fourth quarter of 2025, according to HassConsult. The launch of Silva Gigiri was presided over by Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale.
