First daughter Charlene Ruto has drawn attention after showcasing the progress of her youth-focused initiative, the Smachs Foundation, during a public appearance attended by her father, William Ruto.

The presentation followed a church service held in Nairobi on Sunday, April 19. The two later attended the opening and dedication of key facilities at the African Gospel Church, where Charlene took the opportunity to highlight her work.

Her foundation focuses on empowering young people through practical and sustainable solutions. These include climate-smart agriculture, environmental conservation, and food security projects designed to address long-term challenges facing communities.

During the exhibition, Charlene guided the president through different stations displaying ongoing projects. One section featured beekeeping, where her team presented harvested honey from active hives.

Another highlighted tree planting efforts aligned with the government’s environmental agenda.

She revealed that the initiative currently has the capacity to produce about 100,000 seedlings. Out of these, approximately 40,000 have already been planted. The foundation also manages more than a dozen beehives as part of its sustainability efforts.

Charlene’s approach emphasises youth involvement in development through hands-on participation. Model farms and green energy practices are also part of the programme, encouraging innovation while tackling issues such as hunger and climate change.

Throughout the tour, President Ruto appeared impressed by the progress. He was seen внимательно observing the displays and engaging with the team, at times smiling as Charlene explained the projects.

The event also included a ceremonial moment where the president laid a foundation stone for an ongoing construction project within the church compound. Charlene and other leaders witnessed the occasion.

Her growing presence in public initiatives continues to set her apart, as she increasingly takes on a visible role in championing youth-driven development across the country.
