Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has defied old age and proved his doubters wrong as he demonstrated his expert shooting skills.

While in the final days of the National Leadership Institute, Kyankwanzi (NALI), the president hosted a number of members of Parliament associated with his ruling party.

It was on this day that he took them for a shooting drill, and to their surprise, old Museveni was the main instructor.

Before the shooting drill began, Museveni first explained to his visitors the principles of assembling a gun, in this case the AK-47.

He then went on to aim at four boards from a far target, which he did not miss, further sending the invited MPs to another wave of surprise.

Museveni then went on to explain to his MPs why civilians need basic training, gun skills, and the science of arms.

“I normally encourage the civilians to learn the science of arms. This is part of the strategy. In case there is a big war, we need numbers,” Museveni explained.

He went on to provide the example of Israel, a country with a very small population but that has been able to defend itself very well in cases of war.

“Israel, with only 6 million people, is able to raise a big army because they train civilians and go back home to do other things and be prepared in case of war,” he added.

President Museveni may be serving his last term as president, but it is clear that he wants to leave behind a nation that can defend itself in case of any war outbreak.
