A tragic road accident in Masaba, Migori County, claimed two lives following a suspected hit-and-run that ended in another fatal crash.
Reports, indicate the incident began when a speeding driver allegedly struck a pedestrian along the busy road.
Instead of stopping to assist or report the accident, the driver is said to have fled at high speed.
Moments later, tragedy struck again. While attempting to escape, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which overturned several times before coming to a halt.
The driver sustained serious injuries and died at the scene before emergency responders could intervene.
Police officers arrived and secured the area as members of the public gathered. The bodies of the pedestrian and the driver were later taken to a nearby mortuary for postmortem examinations.
The wreckage of the vehicle was towed to the local police station for inspection.
Angry residents have appealed to the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to install speed bumps and introduce additional safety measures to curb speeding.
