Former Machakos County First Lady Lilian Ng’ang’a has sharply criticised media personality Oga Obinna over his recent remarks advising fathers to withhold child support, if they are denied access to their children. In

a video shared on her Instagram page on Thursday, March 19, 2026, Lilian termed the advice irresponsible and harmful, saying it ultimately punishes innocent children.

The debate began after Obinna suggested that men should consider stopping financial support when co-parents block them from seeing their children.

His comments sparked widespread reactions online, with many Kenyans weighing in on the sensitive issue of co-parenting and parental responsibility.

Addressing the matter, Lilian said she was troubled by the growing support for such views, insisting that parental duties should never depend on the status of the relationship between adults.

“The other day, I saw somebody post, and then they said that if you are being denied access to your kid, you should not send child support,” she said in the video.

She disagreed strongly with the idea, urging parents to separate their personal conflicts from their responsibilities to their children.

“When it comes to the parent-child relationship, love is unconditional. You should not expect anything in return for loving and providing for your child. So when you withhold child support, it’s low-key irresponsible,” she added.

Lilian stressed that children should never suffer because of disagreements between parents, noting that they have no role in the conflicts that arise after separation.

She urged fathers to continue supporting their children regardless of the situation with the co-parent.

“Because the child is not involved in your fights. Imagine your child struggling because the mum cannot afford school fees or food. Just do your part.

We are adults, and we know the universe over time rights all wrongs. Just do your part as a parent; children are innocent,” she said.

Her remarks have fueled further discussion online, with many agreeing that co-parenting disputes should not interfere with a child’s well-being, while others argued that both parents must also ensure fairness in access and responsibility.
