A publication by the People Daily media group on Tuesday, 23rd December 2025, has disclosed to the public how former Lugari constituency Member of Parliament Dr. Enoch Kibungichy who passed away on Monday 22 December 2025, narrowly escaped death, after hitmen who were targeting his life killed his driver before vanishing into thin air.
As per the People Daily media group, in August 2018 when Enoch Kibungichy was representing Lukuyani constituency as the MP, he escaped an assassination attempt, after he was trailed by unknown hitmen who were targeting to eliminate him.
It was at night when his car was followed by the hitmen who managed to intercept it at Soy along the Kitale–Eldoret Highway. Upon getting closer to MP Kibungichy’s car, the assailants opened fire with a clear mission of trying to assassinate Hon Kibungichy who luckily was not in the car when the heavy shooting took place.
Unfortunately, his driver Douglas Wanyonyi who was the only occupant in the car endured it rough from the assassins, after he was shot fatally in the head, leaving him bleeding profusely and fighting for his life. At that time, Hon Enoch Kibunguchy was holding a meeting with his constituents from Lukuyani, inside a motel (an establishment similar to a hotel but which provides parking for many people).
After commiting the gruesome offense, the assailants vanished into thin air, using Enoch Kibunguchy’s car, leaving the MP living in fear and lamenting that his life was in danger.
