A decade-old interview of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo has emerged, showing him vividly recalling one of the most painful moments of his life.
In the clip, Jirongo shares the heartbreaking story of his daughter’s American boyfriend, whose life was cut short in a violent attack in Nairobi.
The video, recorded on Jeff Koinange’s talk show, captures Jirongo describing how his daughter, Sally, and her boyfriend, Cameron Chase, were ambushed on Riara Road while on their way for a coffee date.
Jirongo revealed that the attackers, riding a motorcycle, demanded Chase hand over his laptop.
When he refused and tried to shield Sally, the assailants shot him, leaving Chase fatally wounded.
“I have this message here, Jeff. It was sent to my daughter, Sally. On Riara Road, two men stopped them. They demanded the young man’s computer. He tried to protect my daughter, and they shot him,” Jirongo explained, visibly emotional.
The former politician also expressed concern for Sally, who flew to the United States to bury her boyfriend and has not returned.
He speculated that the threatening message might have been intended for him, even though Sally was not involved in politics.
The resurfaced footage has sparked reactions from fans and followers, who reflected on the personal struggles behind Jirongo’s public persona.
It stands as a poignant reminder of the human cost of tragedy, even for public figures.
As the country mourns Jirongo’s passing, this emotional video offers a glimpse into the private sorrows that shaped his life beyond the political arena.
