The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is marking two decades of its political journey with a grand celebration at the historic Mama Ngina Waterfront. The milestone event aims to honour the party’s founder, the late Raila Odinga, and highlight the party’s contributions to political reforms, devolution, and the defence of civil liberties in Kenya.
Earlier, MP Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, shared photos from the event alongside Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
Their meeting came amid Jalang’o’s public criticism of the senator, accusing him of failing to hold Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja accountable.
Jalang’o argued that Sifuna, who doubles as ODM Secretary-General, has been more focused on party affairs than his legislative mandate, leaving the people of Nairobi underserved.
Among the dignitaries expected at the celebration are President William Ruto and former Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala, both of whom are founding members of the party.
The celebrations will include prominent ODM leaders, supporters, and delegates from all over the nation, setting the stage for the party’s future as it approaches the 2027 general elections.Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga, who has been officially recognized as the ODM party leader by the National Governing Council and is pending approval from the National Delegates Convention, described the anniversary as a time to reflect on the party’s two-decade journey.
He highlighted that event not only commemorates the party’s past successes but also reaffirms its dedication to ushering in a new era of leadership and service in honor of Raila Odinga’s lasting legacy.
Party officials mentioned that the three-day event will include a mix of political discussions, cultural performances, community engagement activities.
