All police job applications in Kenya, including the recently announced recruitment of 10,000 police constables, will now be done online. This new move by the National Police Service (NPS) aims to make the recruitment process easier, faster, and more transparent.

According to the NPS, the online system will help reduce corruption, forgery, and favoritism that have been reported in past physical recruitment exercises. Applicants will no longer need to travel to police stations or centers to submit their forms. Instead, they will apply through an online portal where they can upload their documents, check requirements, and receive updates.

The Inspector General of Police, Japhet Koome, said the new digital process will ensure that only qualified candidates are shortlisted. “We want a fair process that gives every Kenyan an equal chance. The online system will allow us to verify documents and information more effectively,” he stated.

The recruitment of the 10,000 police constables is part of the government’s plan to strengthen national security and replace officers who have retired or left the service. The new constables will serve in various departments under the Kenya Police Service, Administration Police, and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Applicants are required to have a minimum mean grade of D+ in KCSE, be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 28 years, and meet the set physical and medical standards. Those interested are advised to visit the official NPS website to access the application form, which will be open for a limited period.

Koome warned the public against falling for fake recruitment notices or paying bribes to anyone promising job placement. “The recruitment is free of charge. Anyone found demanding money will face the law,” he said.

This marks the first time in Kenya’s history that police recruitment will be fully online. The government hopes the system will set a new standard for transparency and accountability in public service hiring.

By moving the entire process online, the National Police Service is embracing technology to build a more trusted and efficient police force.
