Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has once again shown his human side by calling on Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku to immediately offer a job to the widow of the late former MP Hon. Mathew Lempurkel. Raila made this heartfelt request during a public event, stressing that the widow should “ingie kazi mara moja kesho” (start work immediately tomorrow).
According to Raila, leaders who have served the country should not have their families abandoned after their passing. He explained that offering employment to the widow would not only lighten her burden but also honour the legacy of the late Lempurkel. This gesture, he said, is a show of compassion, respect, and responsibility by the county government.
The appeal was warmly received by residents in attendance, who applauded Raila for standing with bereaved families. Many noted that widows and children of departed leaders often face financial and emotional struggles, and it is only fair for society to support them. Raila emphasized that leadership is not just about power but about caring for people, especially those left vulnerable.
By making this call, Raila reinforced the values of unity, care, and solidarity within Kenyan society. He urged communities to always look after one another, saying that true leadership means lifting up the most vulnerable.
All eyes are now on Governor Lenku to see how quickly he will act on Raila’s directive. Will the widow be given a chance to work and support her family? Time will tell, but the message is clear—leaders have a duty to protect and empower their people even beyond political offices.
