Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Deputy Leader Cleophas Malala is staring at possible arrest after a man filed a formal complaint at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Kiambu over his recent controversial remarks targeting President William Ruto.

The complainant, Stanley Mwangi Wairimu, stormed the DCI offices vowing to camp outside the headquarters until Malala is arrested.

Mwangi accused the former Kakamega senator of making inflammatory comments that disrespected the office of the Head of State.

Just a week ago, Malala sparked outrage when he questioned President Ruto’s push to compensate families of victims of alleged extrajudicial killings.

“The question we are asking William Ruto is, how much is enough to compensate for a dead child? Is it two, five, or ten million? As Kenyans, we want to fundraise Ksh10 million, then give it to you, your child dies, and you see whether it will be enough compensation for a dead child,” Malala declared in a charged address.

Armed with documents and video evidence, Mwangi pressed for immediate police action, warning that he would hold protests if Malala was not arrested.

While acknowledging Kenyans’ right to free speech, Mwangi stressed that political leaders must exercise restraint in their rhetoric.
