Defiant Anti-Stock Theft police officer and Mugithi star Samuel Muchoki, popularly known as Samidoh, has stirred public attention with a cryptic social media post targeting government after the shooting of a mask vendor at close range by a police officer in Nairobi.
Posting on his Facebook page, the popular Kikuyu musician wrote:
“No pride for some of us without liberation for all of us!” ~Marsha P.
He added the hashtag #VictoryIsCertain, a statement widely interpreted as aligning with growing public outrage over police conduct.
Samidoh, whose music has made him a household name, is known for using his platform to subtly flatter the opposition and spark politically charged emotions during his performances. His songs often echo anti-government sentiments, winning him admiration from critics of the current regime but also drawing scrutiny from authorities.
Despite being one of the most influential figures in Kikuyu music, Samidoh is now in trouble with his employer, the Kenya Police. A warrant of arrest has been issued after he allegedly deserted his post and failed to return to duty at his Gilgil station. He is now considered a pariah within the police ranks, his fate hanging in the balance.
