Kenyans are angry and heartbroken after a chilling video emerged showing a police officer calmly aiming and shooting a mask vendor during protests in Nairobi. The disturbing incident took place during demonstrations calling for justice over the death of Albert Ojwang, a young man allegedly killed while in police custody.

The video, shared by Presenter Kai, captures the terrifying moment the officer made multiple attempts to fire before finally pulling the trigger — shooting the unarmed vendor in the head. The clip has gone viral, sparking outrage and renewed calls for police accountability. Watch and read reactions here.

The protests, originally meant to demand answers and justice for Ojwang, turned into a national nightmare when a peaceful demonstrator was gunned down in broad daylight. Eyewitnesses claim the officer appeared determined, taking his time before shooting — with the crowd shouting in disbelief and fear.

Kenyans online are not holding back. Some said the officer looked possessed, others believe the act was premeditated. A user named Kirubis pointed out that the cop even paused and appeared unsure, as if it was his first time using a gun — but still went through with the fatal shot.

This killing has once again highlighted the tension between citizens and law enforcement in Kenya. Many youths now feel unsafe, even when peacefully protesting or going about daily business. The phrase “In whose hands will we be safe, Kenya?” is now echoing across social media platforms.

People are demanding justice not just for the mask vendor, but also for the many other lives lost at the hands of rogue officers. Civil society groups are calling for independent investigations and for the killer cop to face murder charges.

The National Police Service is yet to issue a full statement, but pressure is mounting. Kenyans want answers, and more importantly, they want change.

This isn’t just a protest gone wrong. It’s a reminder that until justice is real and visible, the cries on Kenya’s streets will only grow louder.
