The recent move by Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and leader of the DCP, calling for the intervention of the United States of America (USA) into Kenya’s leadership following allegations of funding through money linked to the Minnesota fraud case, has displeased former Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui
In a message posted on social media on Monday, anuary 5, 2026, Trade Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui accused Gachagua of recklessness and poor judgment for calling on Kenya to be investigated over allegations of corruption and financial fraud in Minnesota.
Mr. Kinyanjui warned that involving foreign governments in Kenya’s internal political disputes could have serious and potentially dangerous consequences for the nation.
“Although it is not my responsibility to handle investigations, the sheer lack of wisdom in failing to distinguish between political differences and matters of grave international importance is alarming,” he stated through his social media account.
In response, former Mukurweini Member of Parliament Kabando wa Kabandostrongly criticized the former Nakuru Governor following his recent attacks on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Through a post on X, Kabando sternly warned Lee Kinyanjui to refrain from interfering with Gachagua over remarks linked to the Minnesota fraud case.
Kabando accused Kinyanjui of abandoning his long-held reformist stance after joining President William Ruto’s administration.
“My once-outspoken friend Lee, we miss your sharp weekly sayings that challenged bad governance. But since you gave up that role to become Ruto’s envoy, the spirit of Ubuntu has shifted into UDA’s political machinery. ” he wrote on X platform.
He noted that Issues of international relations, diplomacy, and the beating drums of a possible World War III are not matters for proverbs.
He emphasized that issues touching on international relations, diplomacy, and global securitycannot be handled casually or reduced to political rhetoric.
