Former Chief Justice David Maraga has shown his interest in vying for presidency in the next general elections, slated for August 2027.
Dr Maraga has called upon Kenyans of goodwill to support his campaign through funding as he is optimistic of dethroning President William Ruto. The campaign website is up and running and many Kenyans have supported the course.
Nandi county senator Cherargei has however criticized Maraga’s call for support. Taking to his official X account, the staunch Ruto ally questioned Maraga’s motivation behind contribution, arguing whether he is looking for votes or money.
He also alleged that to run an effective presidential campaign, you need not less than seven billion shillings.
“Just like i advised my brother senator omtata that to run an effective Presidential campaigns you need not less than 7B ; Rtd. Chief Justice Maraga should know that in Kenya fundraiser can never fund campaigns even of an MCA !. If Morara Kebaso was fundraising for fuel only yet he couldn’t manage. Is Maraga looking for votes or money? his post read.
