A Tanzanian woman has sparked widespread debate after publicly sharing the qualities she expects from her future boyfriend, including helping with household chores and personal care.
The woman, identified as Pride Liana, discussed her relationship expectations during a radio interview, where she explained that she wants a partner who is ready to support her with daily responsibilities.
Pride said her ideal boyfriend should be able to cook, wash dishes, clean the house and assist with some personal tasks. She explained that she has previously received help from househelps and partners, adding that such support is something she values in a relationship.
“I cannot bathe by myself all the time. There are moments when I have been helped by househelps or my boyfriend when I am in a relationship,” she said during the interview.
She added that she wants a man who can maintain a career while also being actively involved at home. According to her, a supportive partner should be able to prepare breakfast, help with cleaning and ensure household duties are handled.
Pride also spoke about her lifestyle and beauty expenses, revealing that her nail treatments can cost between KSh 7,000 and KSh 34,000 depending on the style and quality. She said maintaining her appearance is part of her personal standards and believes her confidence and looks make her attractive to potential partners.
Explaining why she is currently single, Pride claimed that some Tanzanian men are not willing to participate in household responsibilities. She insisted that she is searching for someone who understands her expectations and is comfortable sharing duties in a relationship.
Her remarks quickly attracted reactions from social media users, with opinions divided. Some people supported her for openly expressing what she wants in a partner, while others argued that successful relationships require both partners to contribute equally.
Many critics said domestic responsibilities should not fall on one person, while others noted that couples have different arrangements depending on their preferences and agreements.
The discussion surrounding Pride’s comments has highlighted the changing expectations people have in modern relationships, especially regarding love, support and shared responsibilities between partners.
