Lawyer and political commentator Wahome Thuku has questioned EALA MP Kanini Kega’s loyalty to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).

In a Facebook post shared on Tuesday, Thuku claimed Kega remains politically aligned with President William Ruto despite joining DCP earlier this year.

Thuku described Kega as a skilled politician and argued that his decision to join DCP was motivated by political strategy rather than long-term commitment to the party.

According to Thuku, Kega’s main focus is to reclaim the Kieni parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election. He alleged that the party provides him with a platform to pursue that goal.

Thuku also suggested that Kega’s association with Gachagua should not be interpreted as proof of lasting political loyalty. He claimed Kega’s appearances at Gachagua’s Wamunyoro residence were part of his political strategy.

Kega served as the Kieni MP under the Jubilee Party before joining DCP in February 2026. He has since announced his intention to contest the Kieni parliamentary seat on a DCP ticket in the next General Election.

The remarks come as political leaders continue to realign ahead of the 2027 elections, with several parties seeking to strengthen their support in different regions.

Kega has not publicly responded to Thuku’s claims, and DCP has not issued a statement on the matter.

Thuku’s comments reflect his personal views and add to the ongoing public debate over political alliances and party loyalty ahead of the next General Election.
