Instead, she had struggled with the school environment from an early age.
For Winnie, the repetitive routine of attending classes was one of the hardest things.
Winnie was asked whether she enjoyed her time in the American education system.
Her answer was straightforward: not really.
She described the United States as an interesting place but noted that one’s experience can depend greatly on finding a city that suits them.

Winnie recalled that she was living in Philadelphia when she started school in America.
However, she said moving to the US did not change her feelings about education.
According to Winnie, her lack of enthusiasm for school had followed her throughout her life.
Winnie went further back to her kindergarten years to explain where her attitude towards school began.
She remembered a time when her older brother was preparing to leave for university.
At the time, Winnie apparently felt that she had had enough of kindergarten and wanted to leave with him.
She recalled telling her mother that she was finished with school and would rather accompany her brother to university.

Winnie said another reason she struggled with school was that life at home was much more exciting for her.
Rather than spending her days following the same school routine, she wanted to be involved in what was happening at home.
She described her home environment as exciting and said she wanted to experience more of it.
Looking back, Winnie said the repetitive nature of school was something she simply did not enjoy.
