William Ruto’s mother has come under sharp criticism for covering and condemning a reporter who she said had a shorter dress.
Speaking in Kalenjin and translated by Uasingishu governor , she said that all women should carry a wrap inside their handbags to help in emergency situations. She affirmed that Kalenjin women had been thought so and the photographer must have missed that since she was not from the community.
The grandma further asked her not to be upset by her doing as she was helping her and blessing her at the same time.
“When growing up we were thought that women must have a leso inside their handbags, you might meet a delivering mom and you wouldn’t be able to help. So my daughter , don’t take it badly that I covered you. I was helping you and blessing you. I thought if that camera fall your back would be naked ,” she said.
The act has caused uproar in social media with many saying she was intruding into personal space of the reporter who stepped out of her home knowing exactly what she had worn and felt comfortable in it .
